Neurotransmitters -Serotonin, Norepinephrine, Dopamine Neurotransmitters are the ones that transmit information within the brain and from the brain to all parts of the body. Serotonin - is responsible for regulation of learning, mood, sleep and constriction of blood vessels. When serotonin level is low, depression results. Norepinephrine - is both a hormone and a neurotransmitter. As a hormone, it works along with epinephrine / adrenalin. Epinephrine / adrenalin are the ones who give our body an automatic high energy response when being faced with any alarming situation. this epinephrine / adrenalin response is also known as " fight or flight" response. And as a neurotransmitter, it also serves as message conveyor from one neuron to another. Dopamine - is necessary for maintaining a healthy function of the central nervous system. It is also responsible for perception, emotion and movement. Environmental and psychological factors Stress - This can be one of the main causes that triggers bipolar disorder. Stress is a serious thing that really needs to manage well, otherwise, it can threaten a person's personality or life. Substance Abuse - Usually substance abuse leads to self destruction in all facets of personality. It can poison a person's mind which always have a worst end if not treated.
